Replace Plastic Foil Hoses Immediately
Flexible white vinyl and thin corrugated foil transition hoses are fire hazards; they kink easily and burn quickly. Replace them with rigid or semi-rigid aluminum ducting secured with metal foil tape.
The Rotary Drill Brush Cleaning Method
Once per year, uncouple the exhaust duct behind the dryer. Feed a flexible rotary nylon cleaning brush connected to a cordless drill through the exterior exhaust hood to pull out compacted lint cylinders.
Unplug the clothes dryer and shut off the gas supply valve (if gas powered) before pulling the dryer away from the wall to inspect the vent pipe.
